Samuel Culbertson Van Leer was born 4/4/1861, Fannin County, Texas. Married, first, Katherine Shipley; 2 children. 

In 1890, he was living in Mangum, Greer County, TX--where he was elected County Treasurer.  [Go to document.]   (Note:  State lines were subsequently redrawn; Mangum is now a part of Oklahoma.)

Samuel Culbertson Van Leer married, second, 1892 Leona Paxton of Mangum.  Died 11/13/1936 in Hot Springs, Arkansas where he was a doctor.

12. Robert Hartman Van Leer. (1) Born 4/18/1884, Ft. Worth, Texas. Lost in Galveston flood 9/1900.

12. Ava Van Leer. (2) Born 10/5/1886, Durham, N.C. Married, first, Walter E. Lusby, who died 4/20/1913. Married, second, Dr. W. H. Deaderick (born 2/7/1877, Knoxville, Tennessee.) He was the great-grandson of Col. David Deaderick of the general staff of Gen. Washington.

13. Kenyon Van Leer Lusby. (1) Born 1/18/1908. Died 6/12/1934. Married 10/1926, Thelma Strock.

12. Bradford Paxton Van Leer. (3) Born 9/3/1893. Died 1899.

12. Gladys Van Leer. (4) Born 4/18/1900. Married Cecil Parker 6/1920.

13. Gloria Van Leer Parker. (1) Born 5/1/1922.
